Palazzo Ducale (Genoa)
On Friday 17 and Saturday 18 March, the conference organized by the University of Genoa was held at Palazzo Ducale in Genoa. It was dedicated to the memory of Giulio Regeni and also saw the participation of his parents, Claudio Regeni and Paola Deffendi.
The conference was opened by the Dean of the School of Social Sciences, Realino Marra, together with the professors of the Department of Education, Luca Queirolo Palmas and Luisa Stagi.
The round table “Youth after the Arab Spring in the Southern Mediterranean, moderated by Enrico Fravega, saw the participation of Hayet Moussa (Université Tunis el Manar), Francesco Vecchiano, (Istitut of Social Sciences of the University of Lisbon), Giacomo Marchetti, media activist, and Ahmine Lemnaouer, director.
Insights: “Looks from Europe”, with Carmen Leccardi (University of Milano Bicocca), Gerard Mauger (Center Européen de Sociologie et de Science Politique, Paris); “From Tahrir Square to Al-Sisi” with José Sanchez Garcia (University of Lleida), Stefano Bernini (Deputy Mayor of Genoa), Guido Franco Amoretti (Director of the Department of Education), Alessandra Ballerini (human rights lawyer), Claudio Regeni and Paola Deffendi. On Saturday, the closing remarks at Palazzo Ducale saw the contribution of Sandro Mezzadra (University of Bologna), introduced by Federico Rahola, of the University of Genoa.
