This international conference has two main objectives: to bring together, in a light structure, the European laboratories practicing visual and film sociology and to discuss our practices and deepen our reflections on a particular issue, namely the point of view in daily life, in our sociological field.
Visual and Film Sociology aims to account for the complexity offered by the rarely unambiguous points of view of an interpretation of reality. The evocation of the word science associated with sociology immediately raises the question of the “truth” that lies behind it. Can this arise from the proliferation of stories? Should research when it takes cinematographic or photographic form change its fundamental paradigms? What place does the sensitive take, the materiality of objects and the body, the symbolism of gestures for the understanding of everyday life?
